Torquay manager Paul Buckle has been named npower League Two Manager of the Month for August.
The Gulls, who finished last term on an eight-game unbeaten run, hit the ground running again this season and won their opening four games to sit pretty at the top of the table at the end of the month.
They did not concede any goals in their first three games and when Port Vale finally breached their solid defence on August 28, they had gone an astonishing 998 minutes without conceding, a run stretching back to April.
And Buckle has been rewarded for his side's fine start to the season by landing the monthly gong, although they did suffer their first defeat of the season when they eventually beaten 2-1 at Southend last week.
Buckle said:"This award is testament to all the hard work put in by the players, backroom staff and everyone connected with the club.
"It is lovely to be rewarded in this way and I am extremely proud to pick up the npower League Two manager of the month trophy."
Buckle, 39, beat off competition from Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner, Rotherham's Ronnie Moore and Chesterfield boss John Sheridan for the award.
