Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson insists he has no problem with Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni.

Gibson, who has been included in the Republic squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia and the friendly clash with Uruguay, has seen his future at United questioned by Trapattoni.

Trapattoni has openly advised Gibson to leave United for regular first-team football elsewhere, but the 23-year-old is determined to establish himself at Old Trafford.

No problem

Despite their conflicting views over his club situation, Gibson insists there is no bad air between the pair.

"I can see where he is coming from,"Gibson toldskysports.comat an event promotingEA SPORTS FIFA 11 Ultimate Team.

"Obviously he wants me to play every week so that he can get the best out of me when I play for Ireland but it's not happening at the minute so both of us have just got to deal with it.

"There have been no bad words between us or anything. There is no bad air between the both of us. It is just the way things are.

"If I can get in to the Manchester United team I will play for Ireland - that's the way I see it.

"So if I am playing every week for United I will play for Ireland so my main aim at the moment is to try and get in the United team every week."

Gibson scored his first goal for the Republic in last month's Carling Nations Cup win over Wales and the midfielder admits it was a relief to break his international duck.

Relief

"It was a bit of relief to be honest with you,"added Gibson.

"As obviously I have played in quite a few games now and I have not really made an impact so it was nice to score and obviously scoring from 30 yards out made it even better."

Republic of Ireland take on Macedonia this weekend in Dublin and Gibson knows they need to win to keep their Euro 2012 bid on track.

"Macedonia is a massive game as I think we need the points,"noted Gibson.

"We have got a good squad and a good group of players so I don't see if we play well why we cannot qualify.

"I think we are in a great position in the group at the minute so hopefully we can qualify for the Euros."
